Report Highlights

Teck is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 Sustainability Report, Our Commitment, which has qualified for the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Application Level “A” rating. This is the company’s eighth sustainability report, and fourth using the (GRI) G3 Guidelines. The summary report of Our Commitment can be viewed and downloaded at www.teck.com/sustainability.

Teck continued its approach to reporting this year by applying AA1000’s materiality principles to produce a printed summary document, while providing more in-depth content detailing socioeconomic, safety, environmental and social performance on its website.

In addition to reporting on progress of the company’s 2007 sustainability goals, Our Commitment addresses the issues that most interest Teck’s stakeholders. Highlights include best-practice environmental compliance and recycling initiatives, stakeholder engagement progress, and information on noteworthy innovations and programs. In addition to several site-specific case studies which demonstrate how Teck is integrating and practicing sustainability “on the ground”, the reader will find the “Your Concerns, Our Response” section which was generated through engagement with socially responsible investment groups, non-governmental organization reports and the media, among others.
