Kinross Gold Corporation has published its first company-wide corporate responsibility report entitled, "Taking Responsibility - The Kinross Way." The report is available online at http://kinross.com/cr/reports.html.
The company’s goal with this report is to elevate its commitment to transparency, accountability and stakeholder dialogue on its social, environmental and economic performance in the communities around the world where it has mining operations and development projects. The report has been compiled using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 guidelines and has been reviewed independently by Business for Social Responsibility. In 2007, the company also published its Ten Guiding Principles for Corporate Responsibility, which articulate a clear standard for defining its relationships with employees, partners, governments and the communities affected by its operations.
Kinross is a Canadian-based gold mining company with mines in the United States, Brazil, Russia and Chile, and employs approximately 5,000 people worldwide. Kinross’ strategic focus is to maximize net asset value and cash flow per share through a four-point plan built on: generating growth from core operations; expanding capacity for the future; attracting and retaining the best people in the industry; and driving new opportunities through exploration and acquisition.
