International Paper (NYSE: IP), the world’s leading producer of renewable, fiber-based packaging, pulp and paper, has made a $180,000 donation to the American Red Cross to support year-round humanitarian relief efforts. The donation is above and beyond the company’s recurring $500,000 pledge to support the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP).

The company’s latest donation provides additional funding to ensure the Red Cross can help victims of disasters, collect blood, provide humanitarian aid, and support military members and their families. This support is just one example of International Paper’s commitment to the company’s signature causes, which include education, hunger, health and wellness, disaster relief and initiatives that improve our planet.

“The American Red Cross is so grateful to International Paper for your donation supporting our urgent humanitarian needs,” said Don Herring, chief development officer of the American Red Cross. “This coronavirus outbreak further exemplifies the need for financial support to ensure the Red Cross can fulfill our promise of providing safe, readily-available blood and disaster relief for people in need. Your generous gift—on top of your forward-thinking commitment to our organization through the Annual Disaster Giving Program—will help drive our mission even further every day. Thank you for your ongoing partnership, and your incredible support of our lifesaving mission.”

“We are committed to mobilizing our resources to address critical needs in the communities where our more than 50,000 employees live and work,” said Dr. Alissa Campbell Shaw, senior manager, Community Engagement, International Paper and executive director, IP Foundation. “We commend the selfless and indispensable work of the Red Cross in our communities.”

The company’s support for the ADGP powers the Red Cross with strong infrastructure, trained volunteers, innovative technology and critical resources necessary to provide relief and support in times of crisis.
