When ICMM (International Council on Mining & Metals) asked the mining industry for their thoughts on what were the biggest sustainability issues they faced the answers were conclusive. 40% of respondents were worried by environmental challenges whilst another 28% found social concerns challenging.

Ethical Corporation, a leader in CSR intelligence for business, is therefore launching its second Social & Environmental Risk Management and Implementation conference at a time that is highly appropriate. Liam Richardson, the conference director, offered the following remarks:

"I fundamentally believe that this conference will help bridge the knowledge gap in terms of creating an effective risk management framework and then implementing a CSR strategy on a project site. After a lot of painstaking research I think that these issues are really the core difficulties for CSR professionals in the extractive sector. I think we may be able to provide the solutions."

More detail on the event can be found at the website - available here: www.ethicalcorp.com/risk.

The conference will gather a host of the most incisive and informed industry professionals from across the world. These include figures from leading companies such as Anglo American, Chevron, Newmont, Barrick Gold, ArcelorMittal, Statoil and Rio Tinto amongst many others.

Over the two day event, delegates will attend sessions suggested and moulded by their peers - a trademark of Ethical Corporation conferences.Topics requested this year include: implementing CSR strategies, building effective community relations, minimising supply chain risks, the financial value of sustainable investment and maintaining a social license to operate.
