Marriott's Social Responsibility Commitments Earn It A Spot On FTSE4Good Index

BETHESDA, MD. - August 25, 2008 - Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) has again been included as a company member of the FTSE4Good Index, an index that measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognized corporate responsibility standards and facilitates investment in those companies. Marriott has been a constituent of FTSE since 2002, and is being recognized as a company that is working toward environmental sustainability, developing positive relationships with stakeholders and supporting universal human rights.

Marriott's commitment to social responsibility and community engagement is focused on five signature issues, which represent the acronym "SERVE:" Shelter and Food, Environment, Readiness for Hotel Careers, Vitality of children, and Embracing Diversity and People with Disabilities.

In April, Marriott announced its 5-point environmental program to address climate change. The centerpiece of the program is an effort to help protect 1.4 million acres of rainforest in the Amazonas state of Brazil.
