SCOTTSDALE, AZ "“ February 19, 2008 "“ Approximately 70 financial accounting and auditing professors will gather in Scottsdale, Arizona, once again for the 43rd annual Robert M. Trueblood Seminars for Professors in February and March. The Seminars, which are sponsored by the American Accounting Association (AAA) and the Deloitte Foundation, promote interaction between accounting faculty and practicing professionals, providing educators with up-to-date accounting case study materials destined for their classrooms. This year's Trueblood Seminars will be formally launched with an initial session February 21-23.

The Seminars continue to enable educators to explore real-world accounting issues from the viewpoint of the auditor and the preparer of financial statements. Each seminar features multiple case discussions, an open forum discussion of topical issues and developments in practice, as well as an update on the standard-setting activities of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).

"Creating an environment where business and academia work together to support accounting education is at the heart of Deloitte Foundation's mission, and the Trueblood Seminars are a proven venue where professionals and professors jointly explore the complex issues faced by auditors and accounting practioners today," said Shaun Budnik, president of the Deloitte Foundation. "With the rapid pace of change in the accounting profession, it is mission critical to keep case work examples up to date and this gathering provides important work that extends right into the environment of accounting programs at colleges and universities across the country."

This year's Seminar agenda was designed by representatives of the Trueblood Seminars Planning Committee, including co-chairs and Professors Timothy Pearson of West Virginia University and Gregory Sommers of Southern Methodist University and members Peter Johnson (Brigham Young University), Jennifer Reynolds-Moehrle (University of Missouri-St. Louis), Dahlia Robinson (University of South Florida), Maria Nondorf (University of California-Berkeley, Phil Reckers (Arizona State University) and Shaun Budnik (Deloitte).

"The Trueblood Seminar and its case studies remain an integral part of the quality learning experience that professors are able to extend to their accounting students," said co-chair Sommers. "Joined with the ability to share insights with our colleagues from around the country, the Trueblood Seminars continue to provide meaningful takeaways that ultimately contribute to a quality classroom experience that is more connected to the real business world and the issues it faces."

The Trueblood Case Study Series includes approximately 50 accounting and auditing cases and is available online for faculty use. For more information on the cases, please visit www.deloitte.com/us/truebloodcases.
