The report is designed as a communication tool for providing stakeholders with information on the Group's CSR management vision, basic policies and progress on specific plans and initiatives, as well as for making continuous improvements to group performance.
 
Report highlights:

  1. New CSR material issues and related actions
    In April 2016, Sompo Holdings redefined the group's CSR material issues based on international social trends and other factors. The present report provides a background and detailed account of this process. In order to effectively communicate the PDCA process taken for improving actions on each new CSR material issue, the report also describes the group's basic policies, management systems, CSR key performance indicators (CSR-KPIs), major initiatives, and future policies and plans.
     
  2. Feature articles on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
    The report includes feature articles on group actions related to the SDGs, a global sustainability agenda adopted at a United Nations summit in September 2015.
     
  3. Transparency and reliability processes 
    The report was prepared with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative's Sustainability Reporting Guidelines (Version 4.0) and various other international guidelines. To ensure transparency of the disclosure process, the report also received third-party input, and its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data were assured by a third-party organization. 

Report format
The report comprises two parts: CSR Communication Report and the CSR Case Report. The former provides a leadership statement, a group profile, key results from fiscal year 2015, a description of the group's CSR management system, and examples of specific initiatives for each material issue. The latter provides a more thorough account of specific CSR initiatives, organized by material issue.
