Amgen has released its 2013 environmental sustainability report highlighting the company’s continued progress and outlining the company’s 2020 Environmental Sustainability Plan. The report illustrates how environmental efforts at Amgen improve business efficiency, benefit communities, and support the company’s mission to develop innovative medicines.

Report highlights:

• From 2007 through 2013, Amgen realized more than $29 million in cost savings by implementing strategic sustainability initiatives.
• Through green biology and green chemistry practices, Amgen is conserving resources and saving time in research and manufacturing as it works to speed medicines to patients.
• The U.S. Green Building Council named Amgen’s new fill-and-finish facility in Puerto Rico as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certified.
• The environmental sustainability data in the report were independently verified by Bureau Veritas.
