Report Highlights

Votorantim Industrial (VID) has published its third corporate report, the Votorantim Industrial Integrated Report 2012. It was prepared according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guideline, is consistent with the UN Global Compact Principles and has taken into consideration some of the recommendations in the Draft Framework on Integrated Reporting issued by the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC).

The report contains key information on the organization (financial, operational, social and environmental), and also describes its corporate identity, strategies, business model and operations, projects, governance and risk management structures and its vision of the future.

Some of the main highlights that the company achieved in 2012 were as follows:

  • Generated consolidated net income of R $ 24.8 billion, a 5% increase compared to 2011.
  • Invested R $ 3.1 billion, of which 54% was in projects to expand production capacity.
  • Set short and long-term goals (up to 2020) for material issues related to sustainability in our strategic plan.
  • Included criteria related to the improvement of sustainability indicators in our managers’ annual performance evaluations (and to part of their variable remuneration).
  • Invested more than R $ 520 million in environmental projects, an increase of 10% compared to 2011.
  • Invested R$ 65.9 million in social initiatives (an increase of 11% compared to 2011) which benefited over 1.3 million people.
  • Employed 54,303 people directly and 75, 231 through third-party contracts.
