Woolworths Limited has issued the company’s fifth Corporate Responsibility Report, which outlines the highlights in business performance, earning trust, serving our community, using resources wisely and building the best retail team. Key highlights for 2012 were:

• Won the 2012 Online Retail Industry Award for best multi channel retailer
• Voted the Sustainable Retailer of the Year by BRW AMP Shopping Centres Australian Retailer of the Year Awards 2012
• Embedding sustainable sourcing policies for palm oil, timber and paper, and seafood
• AU$36.6m contributed to the community
• 16.5% reduction in carbon emissions, compared to business-as-usual projections
• 25.6% reduction in carbon emissions per carton delivered by Woolworths-owned trucks, compared to 2007
• 8,391 tonnes of food waste and 204,817 tonnes of recyclable material diverted from landfill
• 8.9% reduction in Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate
• Provided training to more than 1 million participants.

The Report was compiled using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3.1 Guidelines, underwent independent assurance by Net Balance Management Group, again achieving an A+ rating.
