National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has recently published its first standalone 2009 Sustainability Report, entitled ‘Our Commitment’.

NBAD’s 2009 Sustainability Report is a baseline report of the Bank’s sustainability performance and sets out commitments to transparency and defines its journey to become a sustainable company. The report covers NBAD’s group businesses in the United Arab Emirates and meets the GRI Application Level B.
NBAD has adopted sustainability as a key strategic objective and its commitment to sustainability has evolved to take a central role in business planning, strategy, product and service innovation and overall business excellence. The report includes the six major focus areas deemed essential to business success and which are based on the issues most important to the Bank and its stakeholders.
The Priority Focus Areas are: Economic Performance, Embracing new Accountability Realities, Investing in Our People, Smart and Environmentally Friendly Operations, Product and Service Quality and Innovations, Outstanding Relationships. These six sustainability priorities will drive the Bank’s sustainability strategy.
In producing the 2009 Sustainability Report, NBAD considers this to be the next phase of the Bank’s journey towards becoming a sustainable organisation, is a commitment to reporting on sustainability initiatives, commitments and performance on an annual basis, and is part of its efforts to raise awareness and understanding of sustainability amongst its stakeholders.
