Bayer has published its Sustainable Development Report 2009

“For Bayer sustainability essentially means ensuring future viability. It is therefore firmly established in our core business. This has proven its worth in the global financial and economic crisis. We are aiming for sustainability in everything we do,” emphasizes Werner Wenning, Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG.

Bayer is systematically implementing its Sustainability Program which was launched at the end of 2009. Bayer’s Sustainable Development Report 2009 documents the progress made in this program’s projects focusing on global health care, nutrition for a growing world population and climate protection. Bayer’s Sustainable Development Report 2009 contains:
Detailed information on the company’s sustainability strategy and management
Three focus issues: health care, nutrition and climate protection
A comprehensive performance report which covers the areas: economics, employees, human rights, corporate social responsibility, ecology and product stewardship
Quantitative and qualitative objectives

The report is based on the GRI guidelines, the internationally recognized standard for sustainable development reporting, and was classified by the GRI as “A+ / GRI checked”.
Focus Issues and performance report have been certified by corporate auditors Ernst & Young.
