Report Highlights

Total has recently published its 2009 Environment and Society Report, entitled ‘Ten questions for Total’.

To download it, have access to the interactive version, find further information, please go to www.total.com/en/environment-society-940772.html

This year’s report is very different from the previous publications and is specifically designed to engage dialogue between Total and stakeholders. In it, Total answers challenging questions from employees, activists, politicians, local residents, and organization representatives.

They asked Total about major issues and challenges such as energy supply, climate change, alternative energy and ethics. They also focused on more specific topics, such as Total’s presence in Myanmar and oil sands development projects.

Total has provided a transparent, brief answer to each question, consisting of a short text, a few key indicators and a list of our objectives and priority actions. More detailed information and examples are also given.

Total’s main aim is to facilitate dialogue and this report is a first step.

Please give your opinion, share your expectations and ask Total what you don’t understand — your input will help the company to continue improving in these critical areas. Go to www.total.com/en/contact-group-websites-total-940602.html

Some of the environmental and social data published in the report have been externally verified by Ernst & Young and KPMG.
