Summary

The report allows readers to interact with the company's sustainability performance information

Report Highlights

In the new SAP Sustainability Report, SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) has moved far beyond the concept of a static, printed sustainability report. SAP’s innovative Web-based report, which achieved an A+ rating from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), is unique in both the way it allows readers to interact with SAP’s sustainability performance information and how it invites participation into a discussion of the company’s sustainability efforts and strategies. Unlike the typical one-way reporting vehicle that most companies use, the SAP Sustainability Report encourages stakeholders to engage in a clear, transparent and fruitful conversation with SAP and each other.
The report features:

Embedded analytics detail SAP’s sustainability metrics and performance, like SAP’s reduction of its carbon footprint by 15 percent in 2009, well ahead of target.
A revised sustainability map helps stakeholders understand how SAP® solutions help line-of-business managers deliver on the business case for sustainability
A materiality matrix where stakeholders can rate how important they think specific areas of sustainability are and how those areas might impact SAP’s business.
Extensive multimedia content and a guided video tour of the report
An unedited letter from an external panel of sustainability experts reviewing SAP’s sustainability performance and strategy http://www.sapsustainabilityreport.com/feedback/strategic-advisory-panel.

Integration with social media tools like Twitter and Facebook directly within the report allow readers to engage in a dialogue. SAP measured, monitored and reported its sustainability performance using data sourced from SAP solutions, including the SAP® Carbon Impact on-demand solution, the SAP® BusinessObjects™ Sustainability Performance Management application and SAP® BusinessObjects™ Explorer software. Xcelsius® software was used to build the interactive dashboards in the report. Responding to stakeholders’ demands for increased transparency, the technology will allow SAP to report on sustainability metrics like its carbon footprint on a quarterly basis rather than the usual annual cycle.
