ING Groep (AMS:ING) publishes Corporate Responsibility Report 2009

Published 04-06-10

Issued by ING

Summary

The report provides an overview of the company's environmental, social & ethical performance, & sets out goals & ambitions for the future

Report Highlights

For the tenth year in a row, ING has published the report 'ING in Society', which provides an overview of company environmental, social and ethical performance, and sets out goals and ambitions for the future.

Last year marked a new era for ING. Adapting to the changed financial landscape required a fresh look at the company’s culture, the values in place, and how ING balances the interests of its stakeholders.

Stakeholder engagement
ING has started several initiatives to be more transparent and open for feedback about the way it operates. For example, it is organising a series of stakeholder dialogue sessions on ING’s role in society. The CEO and other senior managers actively engaged in dialogue with stakeholders: customers, employees, business partners, society at large and investors. In the spirit of this, the CR Report also includes stakeholders' voices such as Oxfam Novib, Milieudefensie (Friends of the Earth) and UNICEF, as well as ING customers and employees. In line with the feedback received from stakeholders, ING reports more transparently on its ambitions, its focus areas and its targets for the future.

Performance objectives of senior management
ING is integrating sustainability into the personal accountability and performance objectives of senior management. Their performance objectives will increasingly be linked to non-financial drivers set out in the strategy chapter in the report.
