Provident Financial, the UK's leading non-standard financial services provider, has published its 2008 corporate responsibility (CR) report. This report is available at

The purpose of the report, their eighth such publication, is to provide key stakeholders with an account of the activities undertaken and measures introduced over the past 12 months to ensure that their CR programme continues to remain a fundamental strand of the company’s business strategy.

Through consultation with stakeholders, the company has sought to ensure that there is continual improvement in the materiality and quality of their CR reports. Highlights of this year’s report include:

Details of the group mission and values statement that was, following consultation with staff, created to provide a basis for understanding the aims and activities of the business.
Information on how the company’s products and services meet the needs of customers, including details to enable the reader to understand the APRs of their products.
An overview of the volunteering activities that company employees engaged in during 2008 and details of plans to evolve their community programme in the future.
An explanation of the investment made during 2008 to offset the 2,720 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions associated with the business-related journeys made by employees using their own vehicles, trains and flights.
