State Street Corporation announces the release of its sixth annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, focusing this year on the theme of “Raising the Bar.”

In the wake of the global financial crisis in 2008, State Street remained committed to its CSR priorities and improved its performance in a number of key areas. Environmental sustainability was a particular focus for State Street last year as it rolled out its environmental management system to European operations and developed a new environmental policy and strategy statement. For the first time, the report includes aggregated environmental data for North America and Europe, which represents over 90 percent of State Street’s employee population. Other significant elements of the report include expanded risk and compliance management information, details about ongoing ESG investing activities, and data on employee engagement and volunteerism.

For the second consecutive year, State Street retained an independent firm to provide assurance verification for its CSR Report, making it one of the only US-based financial services firms to undergo such a process. State Street’s 2008 CSR reporting includes a full-length, GRI-based report available in PDF, a summary Overview in printed and PDF formats, and a new website.  All three are available at www.statestreet.com/csr.
