Imperial Tobacco Group PLC has published its sixth Corporate Responsibility Review, which can be viewed online or downloaded as a PDF at www.imperial-tobacco.com

This year the Review focuses on Imperial Tobacco's ongoing commitment to operating responsibly. It describes how corporate responsibility (CR) supports the long term development of the business; what CR means to Imperial Tobacco; and how Imperial Tobacco behaves towards its customers and consumers, employees and suppliers, government and society, and towards the communities and environment in which it operates.

It describes Imperial Tobacco's performance in areas such as product stewardship, sales and marketing, employment, occupational health and safety, community involvement, social and environmental management. Also reported is progress against five areas of focus for the five years to 2012 relating to:

Improved group policy training and evidence;
More local accountability for corporate responsibility initiatives;
Regulatory demands and their impact on the product portfolio;
Climate change and carbon management;
Supplier sustainability.

The opinions of expert commentators and feedback from various stakeholders and benchmarking activities were considered when compiling the Review. Included in the Review are critiques by Tobias Webb, Co-Director of the Ethical Corporation Institute and founder of Ethical Corporation, and Andrew Wilson, Managing Director of Corporate Citizenship.

As in previous years, assurance was undertaken by SGS United Kingdom Limited in line with their methodology and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Disclosure was assessed at level B+ and a GRI index is available at www.imperial-tobacco.com
