Provident Financial, the UK's leading provider of personal credit products to consumers in the non-standard credit market, has published its 2007 corporate responsibility (CR) report. The CR report, which is Provident's seventh, is designed to give stakeholders an account of the way it manages the social, environmental and economic issues that are material to its business activities.



The format of the 2007 CR report has been changed from that used in previous years to emphasise better the nature of the CR issues that are managed by Provident, and to provide an overview of how relationships are maintained with stakeholders, whether customers, employees, suppliers, communities or investors. Highlights include:

Details of how Provident has revised its governance structures to reinforce its commitments to high standards in CR management.
An overview of Provident's approach to responsible lending, including an explanation of the scoring systems and models used to determine whether to accept new customers or to offer further credit to existing ones.
Information on the employee training and development programmes that have been rolled out across the Provident Financial group during 2007.
The use of metrics to assess impacts and establish baselines for transport carbon dioxide emissions and paper usage for the first time.
