Reynolds American Inc. (RAI) is a U.S.-based corporation whose operating companies manufacture and market a full range of tobacco products for adult tobacco consumers. RAI has published its first enterprise-wide corporate social responsibility report, available at www.reynoldsamerican.com.

Based on input collected during four years of stakeholder dialogues, Reynolds American selected seven "planks,"; or areas of focus, for its CSR initiatives. Three are focused on tobacco-specific issues: harm reduction and product integrity; responsible consumer and customer engagement; and youth tobacco prevention. The remaining four planks are familiar to many U.S. corporations: employee responsibility; community and civic engagement; supplier responsibility; and environmental sustainability.

Reynolds American's CSR report benchmarks progress against each of the seven focus areas at all four RAI operating companies: R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Conwood Company, LLC, Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company, Inc., and R.J. Reynolds Global Products, Inc.

In 2006, Reynolds American's largest subsidiary, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, published its first CSR report. That report focused on stakeholder dialogues and identified key CSR issues for the RAI family of companies. As a result, the program was broadened in 2007 to include all four operating companies, and the seven focus areas were agreed upon and cascaded throughout the companies.

RAI's stakeholder dialogues have been independently verified, and the report also includes Global Reporting Initiative environmental performance measures. The report is available online and can be printed directly from the website. Paper copies of the full report may also be ordered online.
