RWE's new report 'Our Responsibility' is the third in a series since 2003 when RWE switched from environmental to CR reporting. This year's report highlights the progress achieved through the implementation of the company’s CR strategy. In recent years RWE has revised its CR strategy, focussing more clearly on the key challenges the company is facing. A set of KPIs has been introduced to enhance transparency in reporting and to enable more effective management of key CR issues.

The report deals extensively with climate change, which is now the most important CR issue for RWE. Targets and a broad range of actions to achieve these targets are reported. Besides current issues, the report also covers issues the company regards to be emergent, and issues which have already been addressed but are of continuing relevance.

RWE is one of the leading utilities in Europe, focussing on electricity and gas. In the year 2007 RWE supplied some 20 million customers with electricity in Germany, UK and Central / Eastern Europe. The company employs 63,439 people and has an annual revenue of 42,507 million Euros. RWE has been a continuous member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes since 1998.
