Boston Scientific has long been committed to supporting the advancement of women in the workplace. Our focus on inclusion is rooted in our values and in our mission to transform lives. That’s because innovation is at the very core of our work to develop medical solutions – and research shows that diverse teams spark innovation. Diverse teams also enable high performance, enrich workplace cultures and strengthen customer relationships. When it comes to championing diversity, equity and inclusion, we at Boston Scientific owe it to ourselves, our customers and, most of all, the patients we serve to deliver our best every day.

In our pursuit of greater diversity and inclusion, we’ve challenged our approach to every aspect of attracting, retaining and developing talent. Today, we take a moment to celebrate our progress even as we push ourselves toward further improvement – and we are honored to be recognized by Fast Company as a “Best Workplace for Women Innovators.”

Five Reasons Why We Made the List

In naming Boston Scientific to its fourth annual “Best Workplaces for Innovators” list – our third appearance on their roster – Fast Company recognizes our steadfast commitment to women and all employees by proactively addressing unwarranted barriers and encouraging career advancement. While we still have more work to do, over the past five years, Boston Scientific has:

  • Increased representation of women on our executive committee to 25%;

  • Expanded programs aimed at attracting and developing women;

  • Increased global representation of women;

  • Increased representation of women in management;

  • Engaged employees around the importance of DE&I, including increased membership within our Women’s Network employee resource group.

Our achievements in supporting women have also been recognized with a 2022 Catalyst Award and a top 10 ranking on the 2021 Forbes America’s Best Employers for Diversity.

Enduring Progress Takes Time and Action

The changes we’ve experienced didn’t happen on their own or overnight. They are the result of concerted efforts to engage all Boston Scientific employees, at every level, through education, development and customized programming. In addition, we actively seek out employee feedback in multiple ways so that we can continue to uncover and address unmet needs.

Still, as I often say, I’m pleased but not satisfied with our progress and we are determined to continue to improve. We’re confident that our efforts will enable our company to continue to take innovation to new heights. Because at Boston Scientific, our business is built on the diversity and passion of our people – and solving healthcare’s toughest challenges means making everyone feel welcome.

Are you an innovator looking for your next opportunity? I invite you to review our open positions at Boston Scientific and consider applying to join our high-performing team.
