Tetra Tech’s Norfolk office in the Hampton Roads, Virginia, area exemplifies the company’s spirit of giving by organizing and volunteering for multiple opportunities to support our environment and the local community.
The volunteering efforts by employees in the Hampton Roads office help to build a stronger, more vibrant community, honor servicemembers, and build hope and improve the lives of those in need. Here we highlight a few of their many charitable causes.
Aiding our community
Our dedicated employees supported the Roc Solid Foundation—an organization that builds hope for families fighting pediatric cancer—by raising money and building a playset for a young boy battling cancer. When a child is diagnosed with pediatric cancer, normal family activities are replaced by doctor’s visits and treatments that leave children with weak immune systems and an inability to interact in public situations. Several Tetra Tech employees and their family members spent a Saturday morning building a backyard swing set for Everett to provide him with a haven to play and give his family hope for the future.
“I am very proud of the Hampton Roads office team members, who continue their unyielding support of community efforts throughout the Hampton Roads area. Additionally, I am proud to work for a company like Tetra Tech that promotes community involvement and supports our efforts to improve thousands of lives throughout our region.”
– Tim Moore, Northeast Region Vice President
Remediating our environment
Our employees also committed to environmental sustainability by participating in various Hampton Roads events, including:
Supporting our veterans
Employees also honored veterans and servicemembers by participating in various activities throughout the year. As part of the Wreaths Across America program, volunteers place wreaths on headstones in the Albert Horton Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia, and started the event early so the activity would be completed before families arrive to visit loved ones. Multiple team members also participated in the Spartyka 5K race to support the Wounded Warrior Fund, which supports to wounded veterans and their families. Our employees were invited by the Hampton Roads Sanitation District team to run for those who defend our freedom, helping raise more than $1,500 in support of the Wounded Warrior Program.
Mentoring future scientists
Our team also took a Leading with Science® approach to service by encouraging the next generation of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions by hosting two high school seniors for a job shadowing program that explored STEM careers.
We are proud of the Hampton Roads office and their strong participation and long-standing history of giving back to the local community by supporting a diverse variety of charities. We thank them for demonstrating exceptional leadership both in and out of the office to benefit the community and promote community service.
