FISHERS, Ind., March 10, 2022 /CSRwire/ - Land Betterment Corporation (“Land Betterment” or the “Company”), an environmental solutions company fostering positive impact through upcycling former coal mining and industrial sites to create sustainable community development and job creation, announced that ekō Villages of Hope, which provides fully-furnished and operational ekō homes to areas affected by natural disasters and other communities of need, has expanded its impact through its private sponsorship model and its associated corporate donations.

The initial phase of the ekō Villages of Hope was to place 4 homes before Christmas 2021.  Through never-before-seen post disaster collaboration between local leaders, volunteers, small business and private business, the 4 homes were able to be placed within 4 days and before Christmas in Dawson Springs, Kentucky.

Due to the overwhelming acceptance of the ekō housing solution, an additional 11 homes were sponsored and planned.  These phase 2 homes will be placed throughout several communities hardest hit by the tornadoes that devastated western Kentucky in December, 2021.  4 additional homes will subsequently be set in Dawson Springs and 7 homes will be set in Fulton County Kentucky.

Now, Phase 3 is set to kick off at the end of March with the first home being set in Bowling Green, Kentucky and an additional 4 homes in Marshall County Kentucky the first week of April.

Land Betterment’s innovative rescue housing sponsor model, allows completely cost-free housing to displaced families while rebuilding their lives.  The ability to leverage corporate contributions with charitable donations is a first of its kind model that is replaceable 100s of times over and efficiently harnesses the “Power of Good”.

"Standing shoulder to shoulder with community members trying to rebuild their lives has been inspirational to me and the Land Betterment team," commented Mark Jensen, Executive Chairman of Land Betterment.  "The ekō solution has proven to provide quick, safe and sustainable housing to families that are displaced in a cost structure unseen in the rescue housing industry previously."

It is the goal of ekō to get over 200 homes into western Kentucky for the temporary housing solution that is immediately needed after severe weather and tornadoes struck the region.  Furthermore, after the two year rental period is concluded,  Land Betterment will work to remove the homes, refurbish them, and use them again for housing or offices elsewhere throughout other areas that are in need. Through its ekō housing division, Land Betterment’s goal is to provide high-quality homes to communities through a sponsorship model for a term of six months to two years, thereby helping communities efficiently rebuild.  Under this model, Land Betterment can substantially reduce the burden of the community, the state and the federal government by incurring the cost to build and deploy ekō homes in a temporary term model.
