SAN RAMONA, Calf., March 3, 2022 /CSRwire/ - Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) announced a donation of $1 million to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. With the donation, Chevron joins with nearly 50 U.S. companies on the Museum's Corporate Leadership Council.

"We're proud to support the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the stories they share on what it means to be African American," said Rhonda Morris, chief human resources officer for Chevron. "Chevron has an enduring legacy of valuing diversity and inclusion and we are honored to help preserve these stories. Our partnership with the museum aligns with our belief that better solutions are created when we value the uniqueness and diversity of individual talents, experiences and ideas."

In 2020, Chevron announced a $15 million investment to support the Black community aimed at addressing barriers to equity - a commitment that aligns with our goal to improve lives, create opportunities and power the world forward. The $15 million commitment advances our long-term support of racial equity that focuses on four strategic pillars: education; job creation; Black talent and leadership development; and community and small business partnerships.

"The National Museum of African American History and Culture is a symbol of inclusiveness. Chevron is honored to join the Museum's Corporate Leadership Council to continue showcasing African American talents and experiences that have contributed to society," stated Al Williams, vice president for Corporate Affairs at Chevron. "This relationship along with Chevron's relationships with seven Historically Black Colleges and Universities and 17 national organizations, like the National Society of Black Engineers, continues our company's journey in reflecting our diversity and inclusion values."
