When Health Canada needed 10,000 ventilators to support the fight against COVID-19, JMP Solutions reached out to the team at the Rockwell Automation Cambridge facility for help. JMP, a longtime customer, asked the team to quickly design and create enclosures for urgently needed ventilator units.
This was a new and unexpected challenge. The casings required stainless steel, a material that had been discontinued at the plant decades ago. The team rearranged priorities and provided a prototype within six hours of the request. They then worked through changes with the customer to ensure each ventilator was properly fit.
The Rockwell Operations and Engineering Services team collaborated with different members of the Cambridge team to find the best tools and solutions, holding daily, sometimes hourly meetings with the customer. As a result, all 10,000 cases were completed and ready by September.
