NEW YORK, CLEVELAND, and PARIS, Jul. 25 /CSRwire/ - BrownFlynn, a leading corporate sustainability and governance consulting firm and EcoVadis, the leader in sustainability ratings for supply chains, have entered into a strategic partnership focused on the North American marketplace. The partnership brings training and consulting services to North American companies to optimize their response to the EcoVadis evaluation, and to improve their sustainability performance and practices.
More than 25,000 companies use the EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assessment platform, which provides a rating and scorecard on corporate environmental, social/labor, and ethical practices. The partnership brings BrownFlynn’s expertise in corporate responsibility strategy and sustainability management, reporting, and program implementation to participating companies. The partnership will launch with BrownFlynn leading a series of training workshops aimed at increasing the sustainability capabilities of large corporate suppliers.
Expanding transparency and sustainability performance in the supply chain
“Each year we evaluate thousands of U.S. companies on their sustainability practices and performance. This is based on increasing customer demand for supplier sustainability information. This has resulted in increasing interest from companies to gain expert advice and guidance on how to improve their CSR and sustainability practices,” said Pierre-François Thaler, co-president and co-founder of EcoVadis. “We launched this program to select partners with this expertise. BrownFlynn will empower suppliers to optimize their response and improve their CSR performance.”
Barb Brown, principal and co-founder of BrownFlynn said “Public and private companies are increasingly expecting suppliers to measure, manage, and report sustainability performance. Combining BrownFlynn’s expertise with the EcoVadis platform will help suppliers respond to these demands, as well as help customers gather the information needed to make strategic and sustainable procurement decisions.”
Sustainability is a business imperative for suppliers to large companies
Transparency on sustainability performance is the result of increasing laws and regulations, shareholder demands, and consumer purchasing behavior. These pressures are being passed along to suppliers via sustainable procurement initiatives. In addition to issue-specific compliance requests (REACH, ROHS, etc.), purchasing organizations in the US are subject to the FCPA, US Tariff Act, California transparency, and Dodd-Frank conflict minerals reporting. Foreign multinationals such as those in Europe face the UK Modern Slavery Act, France’s Grenelle 2, and European Union Directives. The result is that reporting organizations must turn to their suppliers for sustainability information.
