Benevity, Inc., the global leader in online workplace giving, matching, volunteering and grant management solutions, launched Benevity Labs to accelerate broad social change through experimentation, predictive analytics and data science.

Benevity Labs is a new kind of social incubator that brings together purpose-driven organizations across multiple sectors — corporations, foundations, charities, academic institutions and government agencies — to study drivers of human and corporate behavior in relation to corporate responsibility and overall “Goodness.” Through Benevity Labs, participants have a unique opportunity to form hypotheses, run experiments to validate those ideas, create data points to prove them and then share that body of evidence with an ecosystem that includes change leaders, charities and government agencies. All with a goal of collectively elevating humanity.

"Individuals (and the companies they work for and purchase from) are more socially conscious than ever, which represents a great opportunity to tap into that passion to drive meaningful behavioural change and impact,” said Benevity CEO Bryan de Lottinville. “We want to inspire leaders to create a broader culture of Goodness that reaches beyond traditional philanthropy to engage people in the co-creation of positive outcomes, and this initiative will help us gather the empirical evidence to support them in doing that.”

The first Labs experiments are underway as part of Benevity’s workplace giving partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The main focus of these experiments is testing factors that influence human behavior in relation to increasing the prevalence of recurring giving, as well as examining ways to move beyond transactional interactions toward more intentional and impactful contributions.

In its ongoing mission to help corporations drive social change through combined goals of purpose and profit, Benevity also launched the Goodness Consulting Group. This value-added service provides corporate responsibility and employee engagement managers with program assessments and recommendations, benchmarking and measurement, goal-focused consulting and end-to-end program design.

With the fall campaign season just around the corner, Benevity aims to help clients meet and exceed their goals through these individualized services. One of Benevity’s recent Goodness Consulting clients has already seen program participation soar 300%, and donation volume increase by 91%, by making focused, meaningful changes to their CR approach without budget increases.

“Corporate responsibility and HR leaders recognize the value and importance of growing their programs, but in many cases don’t have the resources, time or executive support to re-strategize,” said Nicole Campbell, Benevity’s Principal, Goodness Consulting Group. “We help our clients identify their goals and find actionable strategies, not just canned recommendations, to create a deeper culture around giving and make a broader impact for the entire ecosystem.”
