The American Red Cross recognized Cox Automotive, which provides digital marketing, software, financial, wholesale and e-commerce solutions for the automotive industry, for supporting Red Cross Disaster Relief through the Disaster Responder Program.

Members of the Disaster Responder Program pledge donations of time, money or in-kind services on an ongoing basis, to ensure the Red Cross can respond immediately to meet the needs of those affected by disasters of all sizes—from wildfires to home fires. Red Cross services are provided to those in need of assistance at no cost and regardless of income through the generosity of Red Cross donors.

“The American Red Cross relies on the generosity of our volunteers, donors and partners to fulfill our lifesaving mission,” said American Red Cross President and CEO Gail McGovern. “Thanks to the support of Cox Automotive and other Disaster Responder Program members, the Red Cross can immediately respond to the needs of people affected by disasters whenever and wherever they strike.”

Each year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 66,000 disasters down the street, across the country and around the world including home fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes and wildfires.

“Today, our teams across North America are involved with the American Red Cross and are making differences in their local communities. They support blood drives, disaster relief efforts, veterans and their families, and are taking certification classes in first aid and CPR,” said Janet Barnard, president, Manheim North America. “With this longstanding relationship and Cox’s history of community service, we’ll have even more opportunities to help at the local and national levels across Cox Automotive.”

Ongoing financial support from members of the Disaster Responder Program helps create a reliable funding base for disaster relief services, providing food, shelter, emotional support and other essential assistance. “Money donated by the public and members of our Disaster Responder Program is essential to our ability to assist disaster survivors and support the first responders and volunteers who work tirelessly at the scene of a disaster,” said Don Herring, Red Cross chief development officer.
