Today Andersen Corporation (Andersen) released its fourth annual Corporate Sustainability Report (CSR): Window to a Better World. The CSR, available online, highlights the long-standing values, commitments and practices that connect Andersen’s heritage while looking forward to continued success along the sustainability journey.

“Our 2014 Sustainability Report shows how our ultimate goal is to not simply do less bad; it’s to do more good for people and the environment – now and in the future,” said Jay Lund, chairman, president and chief executive officer at Andersen. “Working toward this shared aspiration helps our company mitigate risk, capitalize on new opportunities and sustain our business for the long term. We believe embracing sustainability is simply smart business.”

The 2014 CSR illustrates how the company embraced new sustainability strategies and targets that further support the company’s promise to lead the window and door industry with integrity, excellence, innovation, partnership, and corporate citizenship. Last year, Andersen was proud to be one of the first major building product manufacturers to sign the Ceres Climate Declaration.

“Consensus is growing that climate change poses near and long-term threats to people, planet and profits,” said Jim Weglewski, Andersen’s vice president of Quality & Sustainability. “Adding our signature to the Declaration affirms our responsibility and commitment to providing energy efficient products that reduce the significant carbon footprint of buildings worldwide.”

The report also highlights Andersen’s public sustainability goals that further commit the company to action and continued progress within its operations. Specifically, the new goals are to reduce solid waste, energy and water use by 20 percent per unit of production by 2020, using 2013 as a baseline.

The 2014 CSR meets the industry-standard Global Reporting Initiative’s new G4 reporting guidelines. The transition to the G4 framework helped Andersen refine its strategies and reporting around the issues most material and relevant to its stakeholders.
