Anheuser-Busch InBev (Euronext: ABI) (NYSE: BUD) today released its 2014 Global Citizenship Report, highlighting the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ achievement for “Most pledges received for a campaign.” The new record was reached by training bartenders, wait staff and store clerks around the world on the responsible serving and selling of alcohol beverages, and encouraging them to pledge to adopt these best practices. The company set the new record with 747,496 pledges received between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2014.

The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ achievement for pledges around responsible serving and selling of alcohol is just one example of how we strive to build the Best Beer Company Bringing People Together For a Better World,” said Carlos Brito, CEO of Anheuser-Busch InBev. “Our 155,000 colleagues worldwide have continued to raise the bar and partner with others to make a positive impact on the communities where we live and work, helping make our Dream a reality.”

Promoting Responsible Drinking

In addition to celebrating the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ achievement, we successfully met or exceeded all six Global Responsible Drinking Goals established in 2011 to be met by the end of 2014, as confirmed by an independent auditor.

We are currently developing a new set of Global Responsible Drinking Goals to be announced in the second half of this year that will help us further expand our efforts and strengthen collective responsibility.

Commitment to the Environment

The report also highlights the expansion of our SmartBarley program in 2014, increasing our barley grower benchmarking program to nearly 2,000 growers around the world, who compared farm performance metrics and shared best practices to deliver value to their farms and communities. In addition, we continued to invest in the development of several agriculture development initiatives under SmartBarley, including improved varieties, providing access to quality seeds and inputs, and deploying skilled agronomists to assist growers in the art of producing high quality malt barley with the fewest inputs.

One of the initiatives under the SmartBarley program focuses on investing in advancing water practices and managing water risk for growers and communities. In the U.S., we are working in partnership with key growers in Idaho on a pilot program called AgriMet, which links local climate station data to a web and mobile application that enables growers to optimize their use of irrigation water. Based on positive trial results showing a 9-20% reduction in water use for participants in 2014, the pilot will be expanded to four additional AgriMet stations in Montana in 2015.

People in the Community

In 2014, nearly 61,000 employees volunteered more than 225,000 hours of their time to support a wide variety of community activities around the world, an increase from 46,000 employees volunteering 170,000 hours in 2013.

AB InBev prepared its 2014 report in accordance with the GRI G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines “Core” level, and includes additional information associated with the G4 “Comprehensive” level.
