Annual Members Meeting

A few days before the New Year, Global Sustain concluded the annual members meeting. The special event took place on Friday, December 19, at the Athens Hilton, Greece.

During the event, Global Sustain presented an overview of its activities in 2014, its future actions and planning for 2015, while members of Global Sustain had the opportunity to present at other members and stakeholders.

Michael Spanos, Managing Partner, Global Sustain, opened the event and referred to 2014 highlights, with the support of Costis Catsakioris, Business Development Director and Ilektra Liberopoulou, Marketing & Communications Manager. These are the following:

• New offices - In 2014, the company inaugurated new offices in London, Colombo, Basel and Dubai.

• Global partnerships - Global Sustain partnered with 5 international networks (Social Value International, UN Principles for Responsible Investment - PRI, European Foundation for Quality Management - EFQM, Revolve Media and the Report or Explain Campaign Forum).

• Yearbook 2013/14 - Presented the 7^th Yearbook in a row, entitled “Beyond Borders”.

• Sustainability Forum 2014 - For 3^rd consecutive year, Global Sustain organized the Sustainability Forum, with 9 workshops, 3 plenary sessions, 12 trainers and 80 contributors.

• CO₂ - Global Sustain is a 100% climate neutral company (operations, website, Sustainability Forum, Yearbook).

• New members - In 2014, Global Sustain had 22 new corporate members and 15 new NGO/Society Premium members.

• Facebook - Global Sustain official fan page reached 9.149 likes.

• Global Sustain Sustainability Report - Global Sustain published the second Sustainability Report for the reference year 2013, based on GRI-G3 international guidelines and UN Global Compact Principles. The report is GRI checked and received external assurance from the member company TUV Austria Hellas. The report is based on the pillars: Marketplace, Human Resources, Society, and Environment.  

As far as the 2015 agenda is concerned:

• Global Sustain Sustainability Report 2014 - The Sustainability Report will be published in the second quarter of 2015, according to the GRI-G4 Guidelines and the UN Global Compact Principles.  

• Yearbook 2014/15 - The forthcoming Yearbook is entitled “The Power of Collaboration” and will future CEOs, corporations and organisations from all around the world, leading the way in sustainability-driven collaborations. The publication will be presented in June 2015.

• Sustainability Forum 2015 - The Sustainability Forum will take place in October 2, 2015.

• New services - Global Sustain expands its portfolio of services by enhancing the advisory practice (training, employee and stakeholder engagement, strategy, sustainability reporting, benchmarking, responsible investments, value measurement and project management).

• Visualizing Energy 2015 - The company serves as a media partner of the Visualizing Energy – Energy Transition Leaders expo, that will take place at the European Parliament in Brussels, during the Sustainable Energy Week (June 2015). Global Sustain will offer unique and exclusive opportunities of exposure to its members.

The second part of the event was dedicated to Global Sustain members. Georgia Kartsanis, CEO of SARGIA Partners &. President of CEO Clubs Greece, talked about the importance of sustainability and team alignment. Nikolaos Sifakis, Lead Auditor, TUV Austria Hellas referred to the external assurance as a credible tool for sustainability reporting, while Ilias Skordas, International Marketing Research, Global Link, analysed the potential of Stakeholder Engagement through online research. Employee insurance as a crucial part of company CSR policy was the topic developed by George Plomaritis, Sales Manager for Group & Corporate Business, INTERAMERICAN part of ACHMEA. Last but not least, David Connor Director, CSRwire UK, talked about effective and interactive CSR/Sustainability communication.
