Points of Light, Bloomberg LP Search for The Civic 50 - The 50 Most Community-Minded Companies

All companies with revenue of $1 billion or more eligible to participate; Nine-member academic panel establishes benchmarks for corporate civic engagement

WASHINGTON, Jun. 03 /CSRwire/ - Points of Light, in partnership with Bloomberg LP, announced today the launch of its annual survey, The Civic 50, which names and honors the 50 most community-minded companies in the nation each year.

Through benchmarking and sharing the best practices of community engagement, The Civic 50 offers companies a roadmap for using their time, skills and other resources to improve the quality of life in the communities where they do business.

For the first time, all companies with revenue of $1 billion or more can participate in the survey at www.Civic50.org. Applications will be accepted through Friday, August 15. Results will be published late in the fall of 2014.

This year, The Civic 50 consulted a panel of academic experts from major universities to strengthen the survey content, questions and evaluation methods. The result is a stronger – and shorter – survey. Panelists included:

  • Dr. Edward Freeman, University of Virginia Darden School of Business
  • Dr. Ira Harkavy, The Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania
