Export Development Canada (EDC) was ranked as the seventh top sustainability performer in Canada, according to the Future 40 Responsible Corporate Leaders in Canada list unveiled today by Corporate Knights.

“EDC helps Canadian exporters and investors succeed in international business and find new growth opportunities, but as a Crown corporation that operates internationally, we have a clear obligation to make sure the business we support is performed responsibly,” said Signi Schneider, Vice-President of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), EDC.

“To be recognized as a CSR leader by Corporate Knights was an important affirmation for EDC of its belief that good CSR is good for the bottom lines of Canadian companies,” said Ms. Schneider.

EDC’s transparency and disclosure practices figured prominently in EDC’s ranking, particularly in its use of the Global Reporting Initiative Framework, one of the world's most prevalent standards for sustainability reporting.
