Children today are exposed to connected technology, such as iPhones, Android tablets, and other computing technology, before they can walk. Savvy Cyber Kids, a nonprofit dedicated to teaching our youngest learners Internet safety before they go online, today announced a partnership with Booz Allen Hamilton to provide cyber security awareness programs to pre-k through lower elementary school students in communities across the United States.

In support of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2013, Booz Allen Hamilton looked for a unique way to help spread the message of cyber security awareness in the communities where their employees live and work.

“Children growing up with connected technology should be afforded the opportunity to learn what appropriate interactions with other online participants should look like,” says Ben Halpert, founder and president of Savvy Cyber Kids, Inc. “We are grateful for the generosity and dedication of our partners, like Booz Allen Hamilton, that work to enhance Savvy Cyber Kids’ impact and help spread the message of cyber security awareness to a growing number of children across the nation.”

“In recognition of October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month, Booz Allen partnered with Savvy Cyber Kids to provide our employees an opportunity to identify guest reader opportunities in their local communities to communicate the importance of online safety,” said Kevin Winter, CIO, Booz Allen Hamilton. “The Internet has revolutionized communication and education in our world, and educating our country’s youth about how to access information safely is important to our employees and to the firm.”

Savvy Cyber Kids created an award-winning cyber security awareness curriculum, including children’s picture books, lesson plans, activity sheets and other awareness material, that teachers can easily integrate into classroom curriculums in support of state Common Core requirements as well as preschool programs, such as those accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).  Savvy Cyber Kids books, in both traditional and ebook format, are available for purchase through Amazon.com and other book distributors. Supporting resources for the Savvy Cyber Kids books are available via free download from www.savvycyberkids.org.
