(Marketwired) - A company that turns organic waste into clean energy. A land based fish farm that conserves water and grows fish anywhere. A massive data centre that uses 80% less energy. These are just some of the achievements of the group of individuals named as Canada's Clean50 for 2014, as announced today by Delta Management Group.
Canada's Clean50 celebrates outstanding sustainability achievements across 16 categories, selecting 50 individuals or small teams from about 500 nominations, putting a face on sustainability. The work of these sustainable development and clean tech leaders is making a difference across Canada, and serves as an inspiration to others.
"At a time when some organizations are greenwashing or falling behind in their sustainability efforts, it's important to recognize the many remarkable leaders across Canada who are making progress and making a difference," says Gavin Pitchford, Founder of Canada's Clean50 awards and Chief Talent Officer at Delta Management Group. "We found dozens of great stories across the country. The work done by the Clean50 honourees is truly inspirational."
Canada's Clean50 Top 15 Projects were also named, recognizing outstanding sustainability project work completed by organizations across the country.
Delta is also pleased to announce that sustainability pioneer, Dr. David Suzuki, will be honoured with the first Canada's Clean50 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Clean50 Summit on September 26th in Toronto. Dr. Suzuki has been a huge influence on many present and past Clean50 honourees.
