Industrial designer and branding expert Robert Brunner will keynote PR News' Next Practices Digital PR Conference Aug. 6 at the Westin San Francisco. In his keynote address, Brunner, who helped launch the Beats by Dr. Dre brand of headphones with hip-hop icon Dr. Dre and previously was director of industrial design for Apple, will share his insights into how positive emotional connections with a brand are forged, what makes someone love a brand and how communicators need to make their own emotional connections with their brands and share those positive gut feelings. The early bird deadline rate ends today, July 19.
Brunner is currently the founder/partner of design and development studio Ammunition, which focuses on the overlap between product design, brand and experience, and he and his team continue to create the majority of Beats products on the market. In 2008, he co-authored the book Do You Matter? How Great Design Will Make People Love Your Company and was named one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business.
In his keynote address at the Next Practices PR Conference on August 6th, Brunner will challenge PR professionals to make the case that since the communications function at a company is close to the audience it should have input in the development of a product or service.
Joining Robert Brunner in the program will be leading PR practitioners who will share actionable takeaways and how-to’s for professional communicators who know that perpetual education is the best way to keep their competitive edge—for their own careers and for their brands. Presenters from Mattel, Kaiser Permanente, Edelman Digital, LinkedIn, The Clorox Company, LEWIS PR, Anthem Blue Cross, Adobe, the United Nations Foundation, USA Today, VMware, Electronic Arts, MWW, Not For Sale, Fleishman-Hillard and Weber Shandwick will prepare PR professionals for the future of communications in sessions on media relations, Facebook, Instagram video, Vine, Pinterest, content marketing, crisis management and more.
On Aug. 5, the day before the Next Practices PR Conference, PR News is presenting the West Coast edition of its acclaimed Writing Boot Camp. This full day will feature press release writing and email pitch writing clinics and will be capped with a session on online storytelling with Ashley Callahan, group director of digital and social communications for the Coca-Cola Company; Callahan leads content development for the Coca-Cola Journey website. Jennifer Dulski, president and COO of Change.org, will keynote the Aug. 5 Writing Boot Camp with an inspirational presentation on the direct relationship between challenging oneself and advancement into leadership roles.
