Company Launches Earth Month With Largest-Ever Campaign to Clean Up Where It Counts

(Marketwired) - Seventh Generation, the nation's leading brand of non-toxic and renewable bio-based household, baby, and personal care solutions is celebrating Earth Month 2013 with the launch of a bold new campaign dedicated to a single goal: creating the modern world's first toxin-free generation.

The company's Campaign for a Toxin-Free Generation provides the wisdom people need to make the choices that make the difference and supplies a healthy measure of good clean fun in the process. At its epicenter is a new website filled with all kinds of interactive information focused on informing consumers about toxin-free home care. Anyone who wants to join the effort is invited to start by uploading a picture or video of their kids being kids. For every submission received, Seventh Generation is donating $1 to Women's Voices for the Earth, an advocacy organization working for a safer, non-toxic world. Visitors are also encouraged to tweet their personal stories, ideas, and thoughts using the hashtag #toxinfreegen. And they can learn how the Toxin-Free Generation rolls and how they can roll right along with it by reading Lick This Book, an online guide to small steps that one can take to affect personal health and environmental safety.

The new campaign is part of Seventh Generation's mission to embody a purpose that's about much more than products and profits. "Their goals are our goals," says Women's Voices for the Earth Executive Director, Erin Switalski. "We're kindred spirits who both want to inspire consumers to rid their lives of toxins. We both want to be their partners in that process and help people everywhere ignite a revolution that safeguards today's children and all of tomorrow's, too."

Those objectives aren't small, and to achieve them, Seventh Generation envisions the new campaign lasting well beyond 2013. The first step toward that future can be found in a new partnership with EarthEcho International (EEI), an organization founded by Alexandra & Phillipe Cousteau, Jr., grandchildren of pioneering environmentalist oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, to empower young people to protect marine environments. Together, Seventh Generation and EEI are challenging students to create videos showing how they're helping create a toxin-free generation and enter them in a new contest, which will award prizes that include Patagonia gift certificates and a GoPro camera. The partnership kicks off April 18th with a special learning webinar hosted by Seventh Generation President John Replogle and Phillipe Cousteau, Jr.
