As Corporate Social Responsibility has gradually become common practice within leading organizations and part of our everyday lives, individuals from a vast variety of sectors are becoming Certified as CSR Practitioners! In order to recognize and award those CSR Practitioners that influence their organizations and lead to a more sustainable future, the Centre of Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) has created the Global Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner Challenge!
Johanna Stakeberg, is among our winners! Joanna, following her certification as a CSR Practitioner through our globally recognized IEMA approved Certified Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner Training, developed two successful crime-preventive projects from 2007-2010, namely the ‘Neighborhood watch’, in Sörse - Varberg and in Andersberg – Halmstad (Sweden).
Her inspiration was to minimize crime in these areas and promote the view of a healthy neighborhood! The aims of the projects were to prevent crime by 16-26%, therefore objectives were set to increase safety, health promotion, victim support, and overall an integrative effect. Through her two-day training, Joana and her team set up trainings encouraging neighbors and stakeholders to undertake activities together and discover the importance of “communicating” and establishing partnerships. The end result of the projects surpassed theirs goals by reaching a 37% in crime reduction!
Given these astonishing CSR results, Johanna was awarded Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner of the year by CSE and the recognition continued for her and her team’s efforts throughout 2012 as second best winner of the European crime prevention projects. Being recognized as an Awarded Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner is a great personal attribute both towards organization’s journey to sustainability as well as personal recognition.
Johana’s story goes in parcel with IEMA’s latest Survey 2013 finding that a common theme that motivates IEMA members is the feeling that they “are making a difference” and contributing to wider environmental goals that extend beyond their day to day job. The survey also adds that this sense of purpose and commitment to sustainability issues must explain the fact that nearly half the survey’s respondents consider themselves “career changers”, and were motivated to change to switch to a career focused on the environment later in their working lives.
CSE supports you in achieving such aspirations and boosting your career. The next Certified Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner Training will be delivered in London, on April 25th and 26th.
