Creativity Scholarships Offered to Adobe Youth Voices Students to Support the Next Generation of Creative Thinkers

Adobe today announced that applications for the 2013 Adobe Foundation Creativity Scholarships are now open. Adobe announced its million dollar Creativity Scholarships fund in April 2012 in conjunction with the launch of the Adobe Creative Cloud and the company’s global study revealing a global creativity gap. According to the research, nearly two-thirds of respondents feel creativity is valuable to society, yet a striking minority – only 1 in 4 people – believe they are living up to their own creative potential.

Offered to high school seniors (or international equivalents) who have participated in the Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) program, the scholarship is designed to support the next generation of creative thinkers and propel their careers by providing financial support to students for continuing their education, pursuing creative careers and finding innovative ways to improve their communities.

“The power of creativity is real, and unlocking the creative potential in students can lead to real change in communities around the world,” said Michelle Yates, director of corporate social responsibility, Adobe and executive director of the Adobe Foundation. “At Adobe, we believe everyone is born with the innate ability to be creative and the Creativity Scholarships are designed to support this belief.”

Selection of Scholarship Recipients:

Students who participated in the Adobe Youth Voices program and are in their final year of high school, upper secondary school, or first year of post-secondary education (or international equivalents) are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Applicants must be accepted into or continuing in an accredited post-secondary degree or certificate program in a creative field – or in a field through which they will apply creative skills to advance global citizenship and social justice issues. Students must also be in good academic standing with a minimum U.S. GPA equivalent of 3.5.

To apply, submit your application to www.adobescholarship.com by March 31, 2013.

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated based on demonstration of: achievement and potential in creative fields; leadership potential and ability; personal character; commitment and potential to advance global citizenship and social justice issues; demonstrated financial need to support educational goals; academic achievement; career and academic goals in line with the Creativity Scholarship objectives; compelling Adobe Youth Voices references, and their portfolio of media projects.

Winners will be notified in June 2013. The amount of scholarship awarded per recipient will be determined based on demonstrated financial need to meet educational expenses. Scholarships can be renewed for up to four years, pending academic progress and proof of continued enrollment in a creative field.
