Altruvest Charitable Services Partners With PwC To Help Get More Accountants On Not-For-Profit Boards

Altruvest, a Canadian leader in not-for-profit governance training and leadership development, is pleased to announce a new collaboration with PwC to help match 200 PwC employees who have financial and governance expertise with charitable boards across the country over the next three years.

“Matching qualified board candidates with suitable charities has been Altruvest’s mandate since 1994,” states Susan Dunne, Altruvest Executive Director. “Financial expertise is in high demand, and partnering with PwC strengthens our governance accountabilities on charitable boards that need this important volunteer governance support”

In addition to providing a $25,000 donation, PwC will be supporting its employees with in-depth training related to not-for-profit board governance responsibilities and specialized information about the role of the board treasurer, a role that PwC’s accountants are asked to take on when they volunteer their time. Altruvest will facilitate the board ‘match’, and act as the central point of contact for charities looking for board directors.

“Companies must look for the most effective ways to match their professional skills with community needs.  It’s about finding the intersection point between the company’s core values and business capabilities” says James Temple, PwC’s Director of Corporate Responsibility. “Our collaboration with Altruvest will help our employees strengthen their leadership skills, while simultaneously enhancing the effectiveness of their volunteer work.  It’s a win-win for our employees, the business, and our community.”
