The new daily project summary

Intervals, the fast growing online time, task and project management software for small business and freelancers, launched several new features in the third quarter of this year. The new features add more comprehensive tools for managing day-to-day workflow — daily project summary emails, user-specific time zone settings, and Agile-themed burn-up chart being among them.

The daily project summary email feature allows Intervals users to follow a project and receive a daily digest email of the previous day’s activities each morning at 6am. The daily project summary email is an ideal companion for team members removed from the day-to-day real-time updates — out in the field, travelling, on vacation, or out sick — who want to skim the days’ activities.

The user-specific time zone settings allow each Intervals user see when tasks are updated, documents uploaded and time is tracked, in their own time zone. The change to individual time zones was implemented to help geographically distributed teams work together more efficiently.

The Agile-themed burn-up chart helps development teams gauge how much project work is left in a given milestone. The chart lists task statuses in order of priority along the X axis.  The Y axis shows how many tasks are remaining for each status. As tasks change status they will move from left to right, the milestone being completed when all of the tasks are in the furthest right column. Like a traditional burn-up chart, the graph will show how much work has been done to date.

“Our international customer base is one of the driving forces behind the features we implement,” commented John Reeve of Pelago. “There is a real need for online software that enables geographically distributed teams communicate project updates to one another while not losing track of time at their own location. Many of our customers practice a Follow-the-sun workflow.”

These upgrades are only a few of the ongoing enhancements being applied to the popular web-based time, task and project management software. “Being a web-based service allows us to respond quickly to our customers,” stated Michael Payne, the Chief Architect of Intervals. “And because we employ Agile development practices ourselves, we are able to understand our customers needs and provide them with tried-and-tested online tools for teams collaborating while sitting next to one another, or at a distance.”

Pelago will continue to offer new features at no additional cost to users. And pricing plans will continue to be based on the number of projects being managed. “Intervals is the best agency management system I’ve ever used and I’ve used at least a dozen,” said Marc Pitre of Right Here Interactive.
