Green Breakfast Club organizers have announced their global expansion, scheduled to launch on October 5, 2012.

This giant leap for Green Breakfast Club will first take place in London, followed by Nairobi, with more cities to be added after the New Year.

Green Breakfast Club has taken one year to lay deep roots locally in New York City, and grow into one of the city’s most unique resources for triple bottom line entrepreneurs. In June 2011, New York-based organizer Village Green launched its first Green Breakfast Club event and over the year that followed, more than 20 events have been hosted, from their main monthly networking breakfast series, to Green Cocktail Club, Green Film Club and entrepreneur training workshops. Together, over 750 targeted local sustainability innovators have been reached, and a dynamic resource exchange and community has grown out of it.

Unlike existing ‘green’, startup, or sustainability events, Green Breakfast Club strives to offer a model where free access to resources to help entrepreneurs help each other is achieved through our format and collective resource exchange, with the help of its alliance of partners and sponsors such as the New York Public Library, Whole Foods, CSR Wire and Ecofriendly Printer.

"Less than 5% of all startups get funded, more than 80% of all startups fail, and our planet is in peril due to ‘business as usual’. Providing a way to help green entrepreneurs help each other to access the resources they need through each other, builds capacity for entrepreneurs, their ventures, and the sector," said Danielle Lanyard, CEO of Village Green and Founder of Green Breakfast Club.

"We see green business as the only way to do business, and that we can all collaboratively usher in this shift."

The motivation behind Green Breakfast Club is to activate a local community’s green entrepreneurs to help each other, and grow their local green business community in the process. The resource exchange provides a new support system within a community, all star sustainability speakers offer invaluable resources in their domain expertise, and local partners ally their resources with us so that we can all thrive.

The future horizon is filled with some exciting new developments.

CSRwire President Jan MorganThe next Green Breakfast Club event in New York City will be held on Friday July 13th, 2012, featuring the living resource that is Jan Morgan, President of CSRwire, as keynote. The second city to hold Green Breakfast Club events is London, launching on October 5, 2012 and hosted at the new Google Campus. The following month, a new chapter is opening in Nairobi, hosted at Nailab. For 2013, early plans are already in the works to open up a global headquarters for triple bottom line entrepreneurship in New York City, and to innovation hubs in India and Brazil.

Village Green organizers believe the keys to its format are the shared value and full inclusion model that allies its members and communities to each other, and the local/offline/online resource exchange focus. The company is developing a proprietary technology for online resource exchange, and will be providing each city its own unique resource exchange community for their chapters.  Thinking local and global, acting online and offline, and allying all through one ethos: it takes a village, and we are all in this together.
