Time Warner Cable today announced that it will premiere the second installment of It Ain’t Rocket Science, an original program from its philanthropic initiative Connect a Million Minds, on NY1. It Ain’t Rocket Science will go from New York to North Carolina to Colorado, Nebraska and back to continue to explore the wonders of science, engineering, technology and math.

NY1’s Technology Reporter Adam Balkin will be hosting the show from the 100 Year Starship Symposium, a three day conference in Orlando, Florida sponsored by DARPA and NASA. In the episode, Balkin will explore the history of cable at the Cable Museum and discuss its future at CableLabs, both in Colorado. He then sits down with James Cameron at the Popular Mechanics 2011 Brilliant Innovator Awards to discuss his interest in STEM activities. After that, Balkin gets a hands-on lesson on the workings of wind energy from a group of inspired young girls who took part in 4-H National Day with their project Wired for Wind.

Additional segments of It Ain’t Rocket Science include:

  • NY1 Reporter TaraLynn Wagner will delve into Maker Faire’s interactive exhibits and demonstrations.

  • News 14 Carolina’s Heather Waliga makes her way through NASCAR career day in Charlotte, North Carolina to showcase the technical opportunities and challenges involved in all areas of the motorsport.

It Ain’t Rocket Science will debut on NY1 on Friday, November 18 at 9:30 PM ET with replays on November 19 at 6:30pm and 9:30pm, and Sunday at 6:30pm. Following the telecasts, It Ain’t Rocket Science will be available On Demand for Digital TV customers in New York City on NY1 on Demand on  channel 1110 and NYC on Demand on channel 1111 on Monday, November 21.
