/Marketwire/ - Toshiba Corporation announced today a plan to roll out a national technology makeover contest that will benefit U.S. nonprofit charity organizations with a grand prize donation valued at up to $100,000. The contest will be part of Toshiba Corporation's global corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative that contributed upward of $323 million over the past two years.
Toshiba Helping the Helpers, officially launching on Oct. 22 to coincide with USA WEEKEND's Make A Difference Day and organized by Irvine, Calif.-based Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. (http://copiers.toshiba.com), is a national technology makeover campaign working in conjunction with other participating Toshiba U.S. companies to select five deserving nonprofit charity organizations with a valid 501(c)3 status. The selected organizations will receive a donation of Toshiba products and services including new multifunction printers, desktop computers, laptops, televisions, camcorders, telephone systems and even energy-saving LED light bulbs -- to help them reduce costs, streamline operations and conserve resources.
"Toshiba Helping the Helpers represents a national mission to recognize nonprofit charity organizations making a positive impact on society, and to provide these organizations with the gift of technology to make them more effective in their cause," said Bill Melo, vice president of marketing, services & solutions at Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. "Our campaign will enlist the help of the general public to select one charity out of the five selected organizations to receive an additional prize package plus service and support from TABS to help the organization reduce operational costs by printing smarter, working safer and reducing waste to maximize their green savings."
Call for entries for Toshiba Helping the Helpers opens on Oct. 28 where nonprofit charity organizations will be invited to submit a two-minute or less video to the Toshiba For Good CSR Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/ToshibaForGood) describing their mission and goals, and how they would benefit from a technology makeover. Toshiba will post video entries and announce five selected organizations to receive a prize package worth up to $30,000, all via Facebook. The five selected videos will then be posted for fans to vote for the grand prize winner. This lucky organization will receive a combined prize package worth up to $100,000 that includes various new technology from Toshiba, as well as an award-winning Encompass Analysis to help uncover hidden-cost savings opportunities. Additional details, entry rules and prize information will be available on the Toshiba For Good CSR Facebook page.
Toshiba Helping the Helpers campaign brings together Toshiba companies operating in the United States, which include Toshiba America Business Solutions, Toshiba America Information Systems, Toshiba America Electronic Components, Toshiba International Corporation and other corporate partners to offer products, services and support for the campaign.
