New Guide from Network for Good

Network for Good has released a new guide to help corporations mobilize relief efforts in response to humanitarian disasters. How to Help: 5 Steps to Effective Corporate Disaster Giving Campaigns, sponsored by Yahoo!, provides insights gleaned from ten years of powering disaster donations for nonprofits and corporate partners and includes recommendations to help companies expand their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs to include timely and effective disaster giving campaigns for customers and employees.

“As events have shown time and again, American companies are extremely generous in the aftermath of a humanitarian disaster. As a giving partner for several Fortune 500 companies, Network for Good wants to ensure that corporate generosity is also smart and drives meaningful impact,” remarks author Kate Olsen of Network for Good.

Many companies are compelled to help in the wake of a tragic event. However, most lack a disaster plan that can be activated easily and have not laid a foundation to ensure that the right people, resources and messaging are deployed at the right time. This guide provides a framework to lay that groundwork. The publication also highlights lessons learned from companies such as AOL, Campbell Soup Company, Capital One, Dell, Ryder and Yahoo! during recent disaster response campaigns.

Effective, thoughtful and timely disaster response is in Network for Good’s organizational DNA. Network for Good was founded in 2001 by technology companies AOL, Cisco and Yahoo! in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy to help facilitate donations to the American Red Cross.
