Pediatric Patients at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital Receive a Day Filled With Special Guests and Entertainment

(Marketwire) - Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE: WYN), one of the world's largest hospitality companies, brought a little bit of the Wyndham Championship to the patients, families, and staff at the pediatrics department at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. with a "Vacation Day" filled with fun, food and festivities.

Coordinated by the company's philanthropic program and the official charity of the Wyndham Championship, Wishes by Wyndham, Wyndham Worldwide has partnered with the Wyndham Championship to host a "Vacation Day" in the pediatric unit filled with entertainment and excitement for the children, patients and staff with activities and special visitors throughout the day. The company did a similar program during last year's tournament at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

In partnership with Starlight Children's Foundation™, Wyndham Worldwide, along with PGA TOUR players Troy Matteson and Roland Thatcher who are competing in the Wyndham Championship, unveiled two Starlight Fun Center™ mobile entertainment units featuring a Nintendo Wii™ earlier today. The ease with which Fun Centers roll right up to the patient's bedside, or anywhere else in the hospital, makes them perfect for hospitalized children in numerous situations. Whether hospitalized children are nervously awaiting surgery, sitting restlessly during a long treatment or feeling lonely in their hospital room, Fun Centers provide fun and comfort for patients of almost all ages.

A local magician joined the children and staff of the hospital and wowed them with a high energy, interactive magic show in addition to a face painter who created beautiful butterflies, scary super heroes and many other imaginative requests. A special lunch was served, which was then capped off with a storybook reading to the children by Mary Falvey, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Wyndham Worldwide.

"We are honored to be welcomed into Moses Cone Hospital to share a day with patients and their families," said President and CEO of Wyndham Hotel Group, Eric Danziger. "Today's 'Vacation Day' is another way Wyndham Worldwide and the Wyndham Championship show our support for this community and helping children."

Wyndham Worldwide signature charities include Associations of Hole in the Wall Camps, an international family of camps that provide life-changing experiences to children with serious medical conditions, free of charge; Christel House International, a not-for-profit organization with the mission to help children around the world break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient, contributing members of their societies; and Starlight Children's Foundation, which for more than 25 years has been dedicated to helping seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities.
