Submitted by MYTILINEOS Holdings S.A.

The GRI organisation upgraded the MYTILINEOS Group to Level B standing, following its verification of the Group's Sustainability Report 2010. This Report, drawn up in accordance with the GRI-G3 international reporting standard, presented the commitments, policies and actions undertaken and carried out by the MYTILINEOS Group and its subsidiaries in five core Corporate Responsibility areas: Market, Labour, Human Rights, Society and the Environment.

Every year, GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), as the internationally acknowledged independent authority for the assessment of CSR, evaluates the Corporate Social Responsibility Reports submitted to it by thousands of companies from all over the world, classifying them in three levels (A, B and C), depending on the number of GRI indicators on which these reports contain respective disclosures. MYTILINEOS Group submitted to GRI for evaluation its Sustainability Report for 2010, which was found to meet the criteria for Level B. This upgrading is of particular significance, as it affirms the efforts made by all Group companies to fulfil the commitment for Sustainable Development, and paves the way for further improvements of their environmental footprint.

Indicative of the Group's performance is that during 2010 its total social contribution stood in excess of £1.7 million, corresponding to a 43% increase of the Group's social investment. Special emphasis was placed on supporting the local communities where the Group’s business operations are located, managing Health and Safety at the workplace, carrying out investments involving for environmental protection works, and taking initiatives to strengthen the Group’s efforts to engage its internal and external stakeholders in an ongoing dialogue on Corporate Social Responsibility.

Every year, this publication aims to serve as reference for the dialogue with all the Group's stakeholders, seeking ultimately to increase transparency, build relationships of mutual trust and understanding, and support the continuous improvement of the Group’s social strategy.
