Miss USA brings fair trade and organic fashion brand, Indigenous, to mainstream America

When we met Alyssa Campanella one summer day last June, we just thought she was a pretty (well, gorgeous) young lady with an appreciation for fine clothing and respect for people and the world we live in. As she modeled our all-organic fair trade clothing, we couldn't have asked for a better representative for our company: fresh, vibrant, thoughtful and compassionate.

The people of America couldn't ask for a better representative, either. That's why they chose her as Miss USA.

We are so proud and grateful to have Alyssa, Miss USA 2011, as the feature model for our new Indigenous Fair Trade & Organic collection debuting in August. Her outward beauty is only surpassed by her inner beauty, which she reflects through the ideals she shares with Indigenous Designs: fine fashion can and should treat the earth and workers with respect. It is uplifting to know that Miss USA is carrying organic and fair trade values with her on tour through mainstream America.

"When we first met Alyssa, we immediately knew she would be a great fit for the Indigenous brand," says Scott Leonard, CEO and co-founder of Indigenous Designs. "She is fun, has a great sense of humor and a fiery personality."

"She was so excited about what we do at Indigenous, she was tweeting her friends and fans about fair trade & organic fashion during our photo shoot," says Matt Reynolds, President and co-founder. "The team had a laugh with her as she joked about not being responsible if one of our luxury organic cotton fashion pieces suddenly went missing from the rack.

"Right about now, we wouldn't mind at all if Miss USA wanted to be seen wearing our certified organic and fair trade fashions across America."

"Alyssa said she could not wait for our new Luxury Jersey collection to be available. She loved the super softness of the line and greatly anticipates the release of our Organic Cotton Luxury Pullover this coming Spring 2012. But don't worry Alyssa, we can have one made especially for you right now," Leonard says.

This August, Indigenous Designs will launch its new collections featuring Alyssa Campanella, Miss USA, debuting at trade shows across the country including Coterie in New York.
