Heller Consulting - a consulting firm that helps nonprofit organizations streamline their operations and maximize their use of software for fundraising and mission management - today announced that it has completed its re-certification as a B Corporation™. Heller Consulting was among the first companies to become a B Corporation, and has been certified since 2008.
B Corporations have met comprehensive and transparent standards of social and environmental performance that are certified by B Lab, a nonprofit organization dedicated to using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. B Corporations must also embed their values into their corporate governing documents so stakeholders benefit from their business practices.
"Our firm serves the nonprofit sector, and our consultants come from nonprofit backgrounds, so we we're excited to continue a certification that reflects our socially responsible values in the commercial sector," Keith Heller, president, Heller Consulting, said. "We've operated like a B Corporation, following many of the principles valued by B Corporations, since our founding in 1996, and we became a B Corporation to have a more formal way to benchmark our efforts."
Unlike traditional corporations, Certified B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their employees, suppliers, community, consumers, and environment. Today, there are more than 400 B Corporations.
"We want to ensure that our clients can tell that we're not just marketing ourselves as socially responsible, we're actually working responsibly," Heller said. "Together with this great community of businesses, we hope to make a difference in the world through strong business practices."
